Theory of Constraints (TOC)
A process modeling concept that emphasizes the constraints,
both inadvertant and designed, which dominate the cycle time of many processes.
| |
Process Constraints
Those activities whose delay means delay
in the overall project. Constraints frequently represent a significant
part of the total cycle time of the project.
| |
Lead Time
The amount of time that should be scheduled for the conduct
of one activity so that it will be completed before a succeeding activity
is scheduled to begin.

Queueing Theory
'Inventory' is allowed to queue up in front of the activity
that is short of capacity, or constrained. 'Inventory' in front of all other
activities is avoided. 'Inventory' in the business process context is those
actions in progress.
