Customer Needs Analysis

A technique that prioritorizes what customers need in a product in a format that allows multiple inputs to be consolidated into a single next generation target. The technique should involve face-to-face discussions with customers.

 

 
 

Key Purchase Criteria

A technique which captures the principal considerations that customers use in selecting products and evaluates your offering among competitive products. The technique should involve face-to-face discussions with customers. These discussions can be directed into a Customer Needs Analysis follow-on.

 

 
 

Quality Function Deployment (QFD)

A tool for analyzing the relationship between what is needed and how can be obtained, what trade-offs are involved and how they can be prioritized. The classic form is the "House of Quality" diagram.

 

 
 

House of Quality

A diagramming technique that records needs as the rows and the controllable variables as the columns and indicates the impacts in the matrix. The interactions between variables are diagrammed in a triangle across the top, giving the appearance of a house. This technique was popularized by John Houser and others.
